Bianchi Pista

Does anyone if the new pistas come from the factory with a flip-flop hub.

Serendipper 07-10-06 07:35 PM

They all do.

Research...and welcome to FGSS.

fixed/free for 06, i guess 05 was fixed/fixed

medfurd 07-10-06 09:41 PM

05 is fixed/fixed.

06 is fixed/free. I just got mine and love it, although the guys at the shop can't seem to get the lockring tight enough.

sivat 07-11-06 01:25 AM

I'm convinced that they hubs on this bike are absolute crap. Every 06 I've heard about has had problems with the lockring not being tight enough. I think the cog threads are a touch too wide and the lockring can never be fully seated. Just my opinion.

breadstick 07-11-06 10:13 AM

****, that sucks. If that's true, I guess I better have a new hub be my next purchase? It's really pissing me off because since it has happened I have had to ride really conservatively for fear of stripping it.

'05 is fixed fixed? Since when?

jimmy_jazz 07-11-06 10:27 AM

If the lockring won't tighten up to the cog, don't buy a new hub, just throw a spacer on there.

If the guys at the shop haven't figured this out yet either and just keep cranking down on it, maybe you *should* get a new shop.

'05?

gorn 07-11-06 10:42 AM

my friend had an 05 that was fixed/free

breadstick 07-11-06 10:42 AM

Where could I get said spacer. And is it reasonable to expect the shop to provide one?

TedC 07-11-06 10:46 AM

the hubs are crap, I had the lockring problem too...stripped out threads for the cog, and for the lockring off the hub...got the IRO one, and my LBS laced it up for 30 bucks, didnt even charge for spokes! ( I feel like I posted that exact sentance likkeee...a week ago, I probably did.)

jimmy_jazz 07-11-06 11:55 AM

Try a 1mm BB Spacer.
A 1mm cassette/freewheel spacer would work too, if it fits on a track hub.

I wouldn't say having a slightly-too-wide shoulder makes the hubs complete crap; they've been completely fine otherwise.

Also, my '05 is fixed/fixed.
