Interesting rim...

I know there are a few of you who love Deep-Vs. So I was at the shop today and saw these:

The texture was pretty crazy looking. reminded me of drying, bubbly tar. There were only 22 made in this style.

it's called hammerite. Pretty durable stuff.

pitboss 07-11-06 12:11 AM

cool - thanks for the add-in. Never knew about it.

seasponge 07-11-06 12:36 AM

i heard you could do this to your deep vees by putting them in the microwave

sivat 07-11-06 12:40 AM

This is probably a stupid question, but are they all non-machined?

BET 07-11-06 12:49 AM

this is what im talking about. these rims will match my shox http://www.hypebeast.com/archives/shoxnz_blkcement.jpg

but seriously, never seen those before. but i will tomorrow.

Sammyboy 07-11-06 04:52 AM

You could achieve this by buying a set of Deep-V's, and hammeriting them. It's not like it's that expensive......

It looks like truck bed-liner material.

They'd go perfect on one of the Colorado Springs era Yamaguchi frames:

Looks like the paint used to paint BBQ grills.

Sick, sick, sick...I ****ing love you for this! You have any full images of this bike?

Sin-A-Matic 07-11-06 10:26 AM

More pictures of the Yamaguchi

onetwentyeight 07-11-06 10:28 AM

There was a kamikaze frame at freewheel awhile back that had the same paint job. Also theres a few girls in SF who started a girl bike gang called the Deep V's. I laughed.

absntr 07-11-06 10:28 AM

I was just telling Marcus about that Yamaguchi when I saw that rim.

+1 i couldn't agree with you more on this one

jonb 07-11-06 11:01 AM

Eugene got a set of those here in SF for his yamaguchi.

ink1373 07-11-06 11:06 AM

i actually dig this finish a lot. who knew?

Thylacine 07-11-06 04:19 PM

Obviously most of you weren't alive when Hammertone came around the first time. It's an ugly and nasty and cheap finish and should be officially BANNED along with anything fluro. What's next? Multi-fade fluro with black splatters? 'Smoke' finish? Pluheaze people, have some standards! ;)

That Yama is the stupidest bike I have ever seen. I love it.

every time i see this subject heading, i'm singing this to myself:
La la la la la
Interesting rim
The one that you took
Tell the truth, it really helped you
An interesting rim
The one that you took
God, it really really helped you
You wonder why we're only half-ashamed ?
