Looking for non BMX-style recessed clipless shoes
 

I tried a search but didn't find anything specific.

Looking for a pair of road clipless shoes whose cleats are recessed so that walking in them is easy enough. I'm not a fan of a BMX style plus I intend on using them for my MTB but I want to be able to run errands in the city without having to change shoes. A few people have recommended mountain bike shoes and I could go with that if there are no decent road shoes that fit the bill ...

road shoes will not work what-so-ever. no road shoes allow the cleat to be recessed. plus, roadshoes have no grip or flex, so walking in them is impossible. you need to look at moutain bike shoes.

I'm cool with mountain bike shoes. Anyone have any that they especially prefer?

i typically hate the look of a cycling shoe disguised as a regular shoe sort of thing, but those adidas are great looking.

for the last two seasons i've been using some specialized bg sport shoes:

prior, i had some diadora geko's. the geko's were nice in that they're a bit more flexy, so walking is no hassle. i do prefer the specialized though.

zero flex carbon soles, that are absolutely impossible to walk in...

I like my Shimano MA80. Plus, they look more like a road shoe.

diadora gekos have served me well as my first pair of clipless shoes, and the adidas minrets look pretty awesome for errand running, commuting, and maybe some mountain riding. if you have the money to drop, i'd just go for some sidi's. they're supposed to be the best.

I reccomend the Lake CX120s. I love mine.

i like both my Diadora Gekos, and Answer MTB shoes, i recomend that you go to and try several shoes on, some have odd sizing systems.

invest in a pair of sidi dominators. its the most popular mtb shoe on the market, and for good reason. the fit is second to none, excellent durability and construction, fully repairable by sidi, and a sole that strikes a great balance for walking and riding. last, but not least, these aren't churned out of some sweatshop. they're made by people who are paid a fair wage and likely take pride in what they do.

i've got those adidas minrett's in black. in fact i am at work, wearing them right now! they are comfortable to walk around in and lace up really tight. a little squeaky on the ride - less so than the sidi road shoes i have - but they perform just fine.
