Spoke-Patterns-Lacing

I'm getting a really good deal on a 48hole hubset that I can't turn down, but I definitely don't want that many spokes! Does anyone know any effective lacing patterns for 48h but having to use maybe half the spoke count and what spoke count rims would I need then ? I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

I have to disagree. I vote for 48 gold spokes, radially laced in the front. That would be amazing looking. Then you could almost compete with jonb.

get a 36h hub and lace it 3-leading, 3-trailing and skip every 4th hole, should look pretty sweet.

No they're not Peregrines. They're actually the 48H DK High Flange hubs if any of you are familiar with BMX parts. I've rode BMX bikes for about 5 years and those hubs held up the best out of any that I've seen and were still pretty cheap in price...they were also available in 36H which is practically impossible to find now....too bad that they're very hard to find since it's now pretty much thought of as an 'old-school' bike part due to the quick progression of the sport, but I'm sure it's the same with speed bikes and etc..

Do you think 24 spoke wheels would hold up well for someone that weighs about 170 lbs. ? I'm also considering bladed spokes.

Just avoid the potholes and check if the wheel is true once a week.

Unless you are doing wheelie drops off of loading docks, I think it'd be fine.

I ride a bladed 20 spoke radial front in bumpy Cleveland with no issues.
And I'm a few stone heavier than you.
