Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yup, there was a big digital traffic sign on Friday warning that it would happen. Having ridden in Wash Park, it's not a place you want to have 25mph+ pacelines anyway. It's just too crowded. I think it's a decent idea, though there's a part of me that wants to get out there and compare the radar gun with my bike computer

('sides, there's so much 'scenery' at Wash Park, around 15mph is about all I can do whilst looking around at everything....)

Are there any other parks in the area where one would be able to train, or is it out onto city streets?

Can always head down to Cherry Creek Reservoir --longer loop and quiet roads. I never thought of Wash Park as a training venue anyway, other than recovery rides....

(I have a feeling accidents on the MUPs may go up a smidge. I also think the 'sting' will only last a month or so)

I can't believe people try to train there. The whole thing is less than two miles around and pretty flat. I usually ride through hands-free just to get in a moment of stretching and hydrating during my commute. Even so, I probably go faster than 15mph. I used to ride around that park at night, but that got really boring really quick.

Hey, this may be my only chance to get a speeding ticket on my bike...

Watched the video. The only thing that bugs me about this speed limit in a park thing.... the lady they interviewed with the tap...tap... tap... in the background. I wanted to yell through the monitor "Fix your computer sensor"

On topic.... Who would want to blast thorugh a park? To me, road riding in a park is much like training in a mall parking lot during Christmas season.
