creating double straps

i know this is not the safest way to do double straps but when they cost a bill, i'd rather attempt to make some for about 8 bucks.
i picked up two sets of straps today thinking i could cut one of the clip parts off and glue them together like my kashimax (sp) doubles but when you pull on them, they dont really stick in the clip part.

so to those of you who have made double straps (either glue together or toshi style) how did you do it?
results?
thanks

perfect.

btw, what kind of pedals are those?

i've been contemplating making double straps for
awhile now. i found out that there is a type of laminated
strap material that is used for horse riding equipment
and as straps for tying down 18-wheeler tarps. it's
going to cost more than 8 bucks, but i got some buckels
from old campy straps and rivet them to this laminated
material which i will cut out by hand using a pattern from
a set of mks double straps.

the problem with the single strap doubler is its no good
unless the single straps are laminated. the lamination is
also what makes straps so expensive. i've yet to find the
same laminated leather material anywhere.

I guess fashion wise the holder looks nicer than two straps just threaded through, but performance wise do you really notice a difference once you string them together? It just seems like even stringing them together won't change much about how much the stretch/etc on the upstroke.

(/Hopelessly trying to find some reason not to stick with clipless)

the pedals look like mks platforms. A very good option for riding in soft soled shoes.

they are mks platforms, thats not my bike, ramblin worker made those, i have actuall double straps, and have no idea how effective the doublers are, other than it holds the toe straps in place. I would put one on both sides of the pedal, personally, for a more solid feel.

Does anyone sell the doublers? I have a bunch of leather straps, I'd like to double some up.

cynikal - that pair in the picture was bought at freewheel on hayes in sf. like i said, ramblin worker makes em every now and then.
