kryptonite lock help needed
has anyone ever had problems with the kryptonite disk locks for the chains become
stiff to lock over time? mine is getting hard to lock and unlock and iam afraid that one day it will become jammed lock to a sign. is there anyway to make it smooth again? i was thinking about using some wd-40 or something, any ideas? |
Lube it, use just a little at a time until it becomes buttery smooth again. Worked for me when my Fug chain lock starting getting troublesome to unlock.

the same thing is happening to my fughettaboutit u-lock
|
i put a little triflow in there now and then if it starts getting sticky, then open and close it a dozen times or so to work it in. that always does the trick for me.

Sometimes I hear people use disk lock and the horseshoe mini u-lock interchangable. I have a new york chain and it came with the mini house shoe u-lock, so I am going to assume you have the same[unless it came with the krypto disk[round]lock. So just in case http://www.nybma.com/faq/question3.htm This link is a good link and may raise another problem with your lock that you might not suspect.

I had a similar problem, it was due to corrosion though, I used PB Blaster and that stuff cleared it up in an instant. It works way better than Wd-40, though it is probably way worse for the environment.

Just use some bike lube.

2nd on the bike lube. We use triflow and prolink at the shop for sticky kryptos.

never use wd-40 on a lock it can damage the springs and tublars instead go to the hardware store and get some of that graphite lock grease it usually is in a little tube for a couple a buck and it has a really thin little applicator so you can put it in the lock all the way to make sure it is lubed all the way
works great and its water proof if you damage the springs and tumblers or pins one could jam and then you will never gt it open again |
Just send it back, I am sending back my Gorgon locks because the key wouldn't turn, another key twisted in the lock.
Another new lock wouldn't open took back to LBS for exchange next day, exchanged lock the key broken in the lock 7 days later while working. I can give you contact info if needed. S/F, CEYA! |
