TT Bullhorns and BMX brake lever- help me match

I got one of those nashbar sale TT handlebars that are 26mm.
Does anyone know a BMX style brake lever that will fit on it?
I can't find a brake that will fit on these thick bars.

I've got the same ones. I bought the Nashbar TT brake levers at the same time. I never used them, though. You'll be pretty hard pressed to find a BMX lever that fits around that flat part (I assume that's what you're going for).

Tektro inline lever. Cheap, small and effective.

cane creek crosstops fit on the non-bulged/non sleeved part of the bar. how close you can put it to the stem depends on the length of the sleeve or the taper.

conversely, inline levers that have a true 26mm clamp, like paul comp levers, fit on the bulge/sleeve

^very relevant, slipped my mind. clamp size/bar shape will determine where you can put the lever.

Could you post a pic of it or give me a model number to look up?

I may be interrested in buying it off you if it will fit. I want to mount it just left of the stem.

I am happy with my Salsa Brake Lever. Comes with a few different shims to fit different diameter handlebars.

what i did was simple. i bought a bmx lever, put it in a vise, and ran a 15/16" S&D drill bit through it. i tightened the screw until the proper amount of metal was reamed from the inside. perfect fit, cheap, and easy.

Seems like the case has been closed, but I'll butt in anyway

A cross lever may not be entirely satisfying. They're designed for cantis and pull more cable than road calipers. So you'll have to grab a solid fistful of lever to get decent stopping power. BMX levers should be better in that regard. 25,4mm BMX levers exist, and I'm sure I could fit one to the 26mm part of the bar. (It's my own problem that the in best BMX shop in this country the guy behind the counter said: "I dunno what diameter they are, but all BMX levers have the same clamp size.")

bmx standard is 7/8". i agree with lofarkas, you will get far better feel/modulation with a bmx lever. totally solid. they also make a bunch of one-finger and bent levers, that are made to work on the curve of bmx bars, which are ideal for placement on a curvy bullhorn setup. if i have time later, i'll post a pic. bmx stuff is heavy and strong compared to cross levers, but now that i've gone with bmx, i would never have it any other way. left hand levers are $2.99 at danscomp.com. check out the dirty harry lever and the odyssey bent levers while you're there.

Yeah, BMX standard is 7/8" or whatever, but 1" (=25,4) "oversize" levers are out there. I just need to locate one

Like this one or a number of others

I can't recommend eBay enough for something like this.
I got my BMX lever brake for $.99, and $2 to ship. You'll
not find a deal like that anywhere else.

If only I owned a $30 drill bit. I guess I'll have to mail it off to my father-in-law with the machine shop...

my drill bit is chinese, so it's cheap. seriously, you could use a rat-tail or half-round file. we're not talking about much metal here. i just want to reiterate how well the bmx lever geometry pulls compared to a cross lever.
