...in 700x23, should be fairly durable. Any knowledge you can drop would be appreciated!

veloflex pave

How are those Veloflexes? They seem to be pretty reasonably priced... what's the max pressure? Durability? Ride quality?

How much have you seen them for? The best I have seen is $38. I would love to try a pair.

Do you mean brown or tan/gumwall? If you mean gumwall, I like the Vittoria Tecno Pro Kevlar. It comes in yellow and red, I think.

is this actually a brown sidewall? i see a red-grid type sidewall. similar to the specialized armadillos which have a reddy/brown.

i suppose tan/gumwall would be the technical term that i'm looking for. although brown would be interesting as well. it's purely an aesthetic thing, but me wants pretty bike.

anyone have any experience with these? http://probikekit.com/supersize.php?code=Y1260 road-worthy? too bad there's only one.

yep, 25 bucks in my neighborhood, love 'em, hold up really well on all conditions.

jwbnyc 08-08-06 08:23 PM

It's not like a gum wall tire. It's a re-enforcement mesh that is brownish.

not the track tire
you can get them with a brown sidewall stripe w/ some beigeish reinforcement tape. I've got a set on my bike now and a spare set in the parts bin.
picked them up at nashbar a while ago

here's a picture (but they only have them in 25mm)

i just got mine from texas cyclesport for $39.99. try finding another handmade cold set 300tpi tire for that much. they are 7/8 bar, 110 - 115 psi. tentatively i can say absolutely incredible ride. so soft, so fast.

i bought them to replace the armadillo/rubino pro slick combo i have running now for commuting. i gave them a test run for 4 days, about ~70 miles. so i will be putting them back on when i get my commuter set up (hopefully this weekend).

i do not think these would stand up to skidding. they're rated for 3000km in the rear and 6000km in the front, and i do not see any reason why this wouldn't be the case, even in the city. I think they'll be adequately puncture , given the high tpi casing and kevlar belt. i wish i could tell you more.

interesting fact - veloflex makes their tires on vittoria's old tooling, since vittoria moved all their production to thailand.

never ridden them, but these vredestein skinwalls are on sale for $9.95. i've been thinking about getting some for my beater project.

Those vredenstein ricorsos are ok but they don't hold up that well. For $10 they'll be alright though
