Singlespeed on F300??
Hey i just bought a cannondale F300... and I seem to only use my middle chain ring... does anyone know of there is a front crank (singlespee that will fit on my bike? Something like this?....http://www.blueskycycling.com/produc...-Crankset.htmd)
What about just removing your other chainrings?
would i still be able to remove my front derailleur?
Yes.
ok...should i put bash guards one?...and does my chain need to be shortened?..
from what i see in the picture the chain is "guided" through...so it can't derail.... how do i acheive that?
I converted a 95 or 96 M400 at one point, two of the chainrings were riveted together, and the crank spider was tiny. I had to use a dremel to cut them apart. I can't remember what I did to tighten the single ring down. You may be in the same situation. I got lucky with a magic ratio at 34x18.
Unfortunately that bike was stolen within a month of conversion so I can't say how sturdy that ring would be without the other one for support. |
oh man that suckS!!!.... I guess I'm not doing a traditional single speed... just the front.. i like have gears in the rear right now... just didnt know if that crank set i saw would fit or even how to do this...if I DO run into that problem.. is a new crank the next step?

From what Iknow, you shouldnt be hitting all the cassettes on just one chainring...too extreme angle of chainline. yu should split them up...like first 3 for 1 chainring...etc with some overlap
oh i agree... i only use 1-5 on the rear ...man i wish they made 5 speeds... i think im just gonna put a bash guard to replace the big ring... and set the derailleur to fit that... good idea , right?
