Damn BF, musta been some crushed bags after you were done with em 
Ive only ever had to put grips on the motorbike, but I definitely found out about the long time it takes for water to dry. Soap+water+flathead=10 seconds to bare bars though.

spray paint. just shoot it in the grips and push on. When the paint dries it bonds the grip to the bar. Plus if you are lucky you may even get some cool drip or speckles to add to the aesthetic of the bike.
