i have made hairspray, water, air, and a few other types of water soluable grip fasteners fail.

all you have to do is sweat hard enough or ride in a heavy enough rain and your grips will start slipping.

next (once my grips arrive in the shop order) i will try some 3M Super 77 spray adhesive to mount these:


(which i hear are even more more comfy than ourys)

i currently hate the aluminum collars on my lockon's (they feel not so nice after riding for a bit) but for now they are the only grips i can get to stay put once it gets hot and schweaty in the summer.

how much do you sweat to get the grips to start slipping? youd have to be sweating like a freaking ****** to get enough sweat to completely drench your grips and bars and soak underneath them... are you rediculously fat?

For gettnig grips on and keeping them on, put a little contact cement on the bar. the grips will slide right on, like they are gliding on greased snot, and once dry, they won't come off without a knife.

nope just hard riding in 90+ degree heat with swampy humidity. once that water just gets under a little bit of the side it slowly works it's way all the way through so you start with a little part of the grip slipping and 5 minutes later the whole thing spins freely.

my question to you is: do you ride hard enough if you CAN'T get your grips to slip? and how do you know how much ******* sweat?

I'll pretend like no one saw my possibly-stupid question the first time around and ask it again:

Is anyone running Oury grips over brake cables? I've been eyeing these up for a while, but I run a front brake, and want to know if the degree-of-difficulty of grip installation is off the charts when you factor in a cable.

I tried installing a set of oury's with some "original" Aqua Net last year and they were still loose DAYS later. Really irritating when you're, y'know, trying to ride that bike to work the nest morning and expecting "wait 15 mins" to be even remotely accurate.

Water works ok, but sweat can get under the grips and make 'em slip around.

I just put on some grips using a tiny bit of chain lube. I have this shop size spraycan of Century Lube. They glided right on and haven't slipped or anything yet.

My left one went on w/ just force..the right one I applied some engine-degreaser.

EDIT: Put a set on some bars last night and all I did was lick my finger and stick it in the hole, then it slipped right on. I'm glad I didn't go out and buy an air compressor and a keg of WD40/hairspray/KY etc

I leave my bike outside and the moisture always gets underneath the grips and they slip

Besides not leaving my bike outside, any other methods? Contact cement riight?

Try using clear spray paint,its 99 cents a cant for genaric and you will get hundreds of uses.

am i the only one that uses gasoline? it evaporates in like, thirty seconds, so you have to act quickly, but your grips are ready to ride right away.

gasoline is also a harsh solvent. it dissolves a number of things. never wanted to try it with grips. but if it works (without melting the insides of your grips then just fusing to your bars) then cool.

i dont know how anyone can mess up putting grips on. shoot the bars and the insides with wd/hairspray/alcohol/brake cleaner/anything that dries fast and/or is very slippery. then slip them on. if they're slippery, slip them off and wipe off a lil excess fluid off the bars. slip em back on, it'll resist a lil more this time. if it's still slippy, take em off, repeat until they go on easily without slipping around too much.

if you blast it with stuff, slip them on, and wait for all that to evaporate it wont work real quick.

Don't forget nickels in the end of the oury's where the edge of the bar meets the rubber so that **** won't poke through.
