you're wearing $5 shades, but you want some chanels???

something's wrong with this picture...

Retem 08-25-06 12:42 PM

ok let me clue you in on something if you find a cheap pair of shades that say impact resistant on them followed by ansi certified you can wear them on you bike they will withstand an impact from a bug or a rock kicked up by a car tire I have some sunglasses that were 5 bucks at a costume shop and look like the blues brothers kinda thing and they are ansi certified

good luck

wearyourtruth 08-25-06 12:57 PM

my $5 sunglasses have PLASTIC lenses... not sure if i've ever run across any cheap ones that bother to work with glass. should the lens break it'll just snap, not shatter.

don't know why it would be a problem...

$5 shades often look better than $200 shades. Its some ****, ain't it.

if you get a cheap a pair of sunglasses there is a possibility that you are doing more harm to your eyes. you have to consider the optics because those $5 shades may look cool but do sh** for you blocking out harmful uv rays. Lay down the extra cash and get a decent pair of sunglasses.

One of my original points. Cheapo glasses also have cheap poly lenses that have a much great chance of breaking and ****in up your eyes from normal debris kicked up on the road.

No_Minkah 08-25-06 01:18 PM

And then you'll really be sorry.

I've been happy with my Smith Bazooka sliders. I had a b!tchin yellow pair but lost them so I bought a black pair when they were on sale at Nashbar. Unfortunately I broke an arm in half and now Nashbar is sold out of them and I can't find them anymore. I was looking at getting some Oakley Fives 3.0. Check out the Smith website linked in a previous reply. Definitely some nice sunglasses!

Just make sure to check the sunglasses you choose for any rough edges or parts that can break and maybe poke you in the eye. There's a chance you will be on your bike, riding pretty slowly and end up losing your balance. Look for some that are guaranteed to protect your face if you where to do a face plant on the street. But then again, you could sue the sunglass manufacturer if you do end up faceplanting with your sunglasses on. Just sayin...

oops, got busy at work -

anyway, I don't really want chanels, it was just the first pic i came across in that style. I think my most expensive pair of sunglasses right now cost like $10 although they did say they protect against uv rays. Some of those smith & rayban ones look cool though.

.. but i'd definately spend more to keep glass shards / plastic shards / whatever out of my eyes.

Red Riding Hood 08-25-06 01:47 PM

What about padded leggings and helmets with skulls on them that keep your hair looking cool!?

Retem 08-25-06 01:59 PM

I think that all smith sunglasses as in smith the company that also makes ski and motocross goggles shatter and impact resistent

and by the way most cheap sunglasses I have seen lately have uv a and uv b rating but I am in california ie sunglass land

^^^Retem, please observe forum rules concerning language, or risk being banned.

This is NOT the BMX forums. We speak, read and type English here. You have been warned. Seriously.

Shiznaz 08-25-06 02:41 PM

I believe the proper protocol is to make fun of them for being semi-literate knuckle draggers. I think waving threats and warning saround just makes you look like a big geebo. This forum runs on insults and embarrassment, not rules!

danlikesbikes 08-25-06 02:45 PM

^^WTF?
I have Smith Sliders - Ditrict II and they are awesome

chicks in hair rollers are hott.

thurstonboise 08-25-06 03:23 PM

It's VonZipper or Dragon for me. Cheap glasses give me headaches, and Oakleys are just getting to be too damn expensive.

Could you repeat that in saround sound, I'm an old geebo, and didn't quite catch what you said...:)

Retem 08-25-06 03:53 PM

What?? Please explain and maybe send me the rules you speak of since, you seem to have it out for me.

Really maybe, we should have coffee sometime or something to discuss the real problem here?

Did I happen to cut you off in traffic or something?

Retem 08-25-06 03:58 PM

Hmm I don't seem to see any rules.

I really don't beleive you have the ability to do what you say. Please don't threaten me I do not appreciate hostile environments. If I bother you so much ignore my posts I am simply rendering advice when asked have a nice day.

Remember if there isn't anyone out there who cares I care about you and all humanity.

With love,
Tom

Retem 08-25-06 04:10 PM

I guess my previous posts in have been a little spamish but it is just me saying hey this is what I know as being impact resistent and somewhat safe....

and here is the link to the rules sorry if I have offended any

http://bikeforums.net/faq.php?faq=fo...ral_principles

but it doesn't seem to say anything about punctuatuion or typing discepencies

kiss kiss

Serendipper 08-25-06 04:29 PM

Thanks Tom,

There is a provision for punctuation and spelling. It's labled under Disruption.

But no, I don't have it out for you. You are welcome here. We just try to keep trolls off the boards (unless they are funny and/or thought provoking).

I was not threatening you, Tom. I was just steering you in the direction of harmony, or inviting you to leave.

Now that you have both displayed your intelligence, and knowledge of the guidelines, we expect you to do your best not to cause unneccesary disruption. Unless it causes beverages to launch unexpectedly from our nostrils. In that case, feel free to take liberties (at your own risk).

Cheers,

~Seren Dipper
