I like my Specialized Chicanes. Most of Specialized Optics look pretty cool. The lenses automatically get lighter or darker depending on the conditions. They were developed for the military.

spys right purdy

bbattle 08-25-06 08:29 PM

Man, you guys can't do a proper sunglasses thread for nothin'. I had high hopes for Juvi, too.

I wear these:

With prescription and polarized lenses, they cost more than most of the bikes ridden be posters on this thread but they look great, keep out the bugs, keep out the wind, I don't have to squint, and I don't look like some reject from the Menudo casting call.

WakeUpOnFire 08-25-06 08:32 PM

I'm sorry but those are really ugly.

bbattle 08-25-06 08:50 PM

I'm sure you are referring to the OP's Dame Edna leopard frames. Oakleys are the best.

Shiznaz 08-25-06 09:21 PM

I guess marketing really works!

Ok...ok..not sure what that is suppose to mean, but... When I am walking down the street and the girls can not resist my stare like Pablo Picasso, I am def rockin either Prada or Dior, some of the smaller boutique brands are makin some pretty fly **** but I leave those for the birds. When I am riding a bike I wear some of the Oakley M-Frames but not the Pro M-Frames because I like to have them fold up to go into the front pocket of my bag. These glasses sit really well on the helmet as well, have 8 bizzillion lens colors and tents and are pretty comfortable. When I see women cyclist with these on I do feel like they look a little funny. The Smiths and Rudy Project sport glasses tend to fit the ladies way better than any Oakleys will.

Last night I was talking about how I REALLY want a full tron road biking team kit complete with bibs, jersey, socks, gloves, helmet and zany sunglasses like those spys. You could pimp out your bike and outfit with lights and be the coolest kid on the mainframe.

kyle! 08-27-06 10:14 AM

i'm getting this hazy memory of seeing a bike that actually had tron inspired glowing parts on it but where?! where was it?!

swwhite 08-27-06 03:43 PM

Check out "AOSafety landscaper safety glasses" at Home Depot, about ten dollars.

Retem 08-27-06 03:52 PM

duplicolor makes a glow in the dark clear coat

kyledr 08-27-06 05:48 PM

I hvae briko bat sunglasses from Nashbar coming in the mail. They look multi-purpose and are polyblahblah. Something like $50 after being near 50% off.

asburysinglespd 08-27-06 06:31 PM

i bought a pair of polarized teva sunglasses from marshalls for 12.99. light, no scratch lenses, and they are actually not too bad looking.

juvi-kyle 08-27-06 06:56 PM

this thread def lost it again...

Dead Roman 08-27-06 07:20 PM

Ive got a set of perscription rayban aviators with mirrored lenses I rock when Im just cruising around.

mezza 08-27-06 07:44 PM

These will definitely keep the sun out of your eyes and won't fall off in a hurry.

And these will be good if you also want to prevent swallowing bugs.

head to your local hardware store, where, for $7, you can buy a perfectly reasonable looking pair of safety glasses that won't fall off and are impact rated.

i was thinking maybe these?

zapb42 08-29-06 10:03 AM

I use Oakley Monster Dogs, despite the dumb name I really like them, mostly because of the large but not huge lenses and nice coverage. I am partial to Oakley because of the high optical quality, because I also use my sunglasses for flying. They are pretty reasonably priced for Oakley. They have some pricier ones with vents and stuff that I think also look pretty cool and might be more useful for cycling. As far as impact resistance, they are tested for that and are shatter resistant but probably aren't like safety glasses or anything.
