how tall are you?
there's gotta be a frame someplace in the country that will fit you.
or if not, just import a frame and build the bike yourself, since they definitely have components.

Im only 6 foot but believe me that makes life hard when shopping for single speed bikes here. Ive been to every major bike shop in the city i think. Most carried SS but they were all WAY small. Ive even hit up a hardcore fixie shop outside the city. They all say that 55-56cm and up frames are very hard to come by in Japan. They usually have to special order it because the stock is very very low throughout the country on much over 53. Its pretty annoying. The fixie shop says that they have a lead on a "very old frame" that is 56cm. Gonna check that out. Might be something cool. Dont know the maker yet.
But yeah importing just the frame might be the best way because of cheaper shipping costs. If i get something from abroad i mean.
Anyway, input on the bikes above?

So you're big in Japan then?

deathhare 08-27-06 11:28 PM

Im above average size..possibly in more ways than i care to know. :D

i guess it really depends on the cost of shipping (which i haven't a clue about).
just seems to me that none of those bikes are really that amazing. decent frames and ok components. but for what you'd be paying for the bike and shipping, you could get a decent frame shipped over, then build it up with quality components. it may end up costing the same, but at the end of it you'll have a much nicer bike.

Yep, thats a good point. I think i may go that route. Im gonna check out this old frame that i heard about and then make that choice.
Any frame recommendations would be great. ??

why not get a keirin bike I think nagasawa works out of tokyo. because the guy behind ganwell pro just died a week ago I heard. also you are in country why not get something like that while you are there. or you could find a schwinn paramount I hear american bikes are big over there.

Well the issue isnt finding bikes. Ive found TONS of killer fixie bikes. The issue is locating one big enough for me.
