front wheel stolen yesterday!
i walked out of the gym on 6th ave. and 14th st, to find my that my bike was laying down with it's front wheel gone! i was so upset...why are people like that? i figure it was my fault for not locking up the wheels. in anycase, can someone suggest a place to buy a front wheel in nyc? i really dont' want a high end one at all. i just need functional, cheap, one that works. at this point, i don't want to be jacked or a target to get jacked again. thanks everyone!

Try A bikes on 22nd off 7th Ave, Track star 1st off 2nd Ave and Bike Works in the LES on remington by the Willy B bridge.
I will see if I have one.

pitlock stuff is rediculously expensive. a set of 10mmx1mm axle nuts is almost $100. i'd rather carry around a spare lock.

pfht.. 65 EUR isn't that bad for secured seatpost + headset/stem/fork + front wheel
people pay that much for u-locks. the u-lock to get costs 12 eur tho but still.

yeah, I got my front wheel jacked about a month ago too. I had an allen-bolt front skewer and my bike was locked up in front of a busy office building in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. My bike comes inside with me now. My new wheel has a quick release with a hose clamp on it now... sure, all they need is a screwdriver now, but it's going to be a good 20 seconds of turning to back it out enough vs. the 2 seconds with the allen key. That's a 1000% increase!
