Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? 2 coats of rustkill primer, 4-5 coats of paint (gloss white), a few decals then liberally clearcoated.

how long did you seperate the coats by? how many clearcoat layers did you use?

I have done a rattle can job on an old raliegh conversion that turned out pretty good but a year later is quite torn up. it looked good but didn't hold up very well.

Used paint stripper & steel wool to get rid of the old paint.

Used an electric detail sander with 200 grit to get rid of the surface rust then moved to 400, then 600.
Then sanded it down by hand with very fine wet/dry sandpaper. Cleaned off with rag soaked in metho, rinse with water, used gloves when handling while painting. Sand back with fine wet/dry between coats of primer. clean with metho after sanding, rinse with water. 2 coats were done within an hour of each other.
White paint was done in a similar fashion, but no sanding between coats. Did 2 coats within an hour then left overnight, then repeated, then final coat. I used 3 cans of clearcoat for a bit of extra protection.

Good fun, overspray went everywhere even though I had a sheet up around my (intended) spray zone, but I was in my garage, and my other bikes were covered, so no major deal.

The bike I built my girl

Sorry for the less than pro photo. My digicam is ancient. sand, prime, paint. forgot to clear coat this one so it's getting redone soon. and she usually has a matching front wheel.

Not the most detailed pic but you get the picture. Basic matte black and clear coat.

Spray painted the frame and fork a couple years ago. It's my beater. It looks pretty bad now.

Sold the Frame to some kid. He didnt like the paint. I loved it. But i had way to many frames to put it together and ride.

Its was the first of two frames i had done in the similar scheme. Oh yea its a Langster.
