Cog slipping/cone adjustment
 

I decided to try riding brakeless. It was just my luck that the cog slippled off. So my immediate response was to straddle the frame with both legs then unlclip one foot and drag it to stop. I was able to do that, then lightly thread the cog back on with the pedals. Yesterday I decided to dr. bond glue it down. This is a temporary fix until I get the lockring tool/chaintool. The cog is Suntour brand. It appears there is no lockring installed. I am guessing the previous owner stripped the threads and didnt tell me. I'll try getting a lockringinstalled. Also I need to adjust the bearings there is a considerable griding noise. It is obviously the bearing not adjusted right. I can see that one side of the cone is a little sloppy.

You left your house on a bike, sans brakes, and didnt even know if it had a lockring or not? Sit down somewhere before you hurt yourself or someone else.

i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you're not ready for brakeless riding.

yeah it sounds like there was a littel more than luck involved...


make sure your hub is actually threaded for a lockring
and if your hubs are grinding they probably need to be repacked
