Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Midnight Ridazz Swarmed The Pier - Post Pics If You Have 'Em!

I got to ride my first Midnight Ridazz last night, what a blast!

Quick observations:

The pace was easy so that was great for newbies such as Joelv.

When we were in the car arriving at the Trader Joe's parking lot, people were rude. When we got out, everyone seemed super friendly.

Thank you Kristen!(sp?) Who stopped and actually helped me bend my frame to accomodate my skinny rear hub after I lost the chain and my rear wheel. -And to "Robot" Robert who stopped by to make sure things were cool.

My legs and butt are pretty sore.

Pics coming after my nap.

people who would go out of their way to be rude to you because you were in a car but then would be cool to you when they realized you also rode a bike. that's just...i dont know...dumb?

I agree. Especially since everybody pulling into the parking lot was pertty obviously joining the ride. Its kinda like getting pissed off at cyclists taking a lane while you're driving, then getting pissed at drivers for honking at you while you're riding.

I agree it seems like a lot of "car-haters" are there when the message of the ride is to let cagers know that were traffic too and have rights to the road also...

But anyways my group had fun on the ride...

My post on the SoCal forum:

Fun ride! Had a blast, the experience of riding with 300-500ish rider at night is unreal.

Too bad I have to bail out early because I had to work this morning. Next time I'll party til dawn. The ride back was a little unorganized though, not sure if we were suppose to hangout at the pier or just head back to Culver/LACC. And the cops showed up

Helped a guy named Jay with a blown front tube, hope you made thru the ride fine, man!

Some pics and video (it's really crappy, I know):

Video 1 (at Trader Joe's)

Video 2 (at The Pier)

same thing

At Trader Joe's:

At the Venice roundabout thingy:

At the Pier:
