Hi
just getting into biking after living in Seattle for a few months. and am in the process of building a fixie.
im trying to get new wheels and hubs, but cant find out whether i can put 700cm wheels on my bike that currently has 27in wheels. thanks Joe

ok seriously now. (you mean 700c)
you can replace 27's with 700c's. just keep a couple things in mind.

a 700c wheel is 8mm smaller than a 27"
given the same tire profile (height) you'll be dropping your BB height by 4mm. so watch out for pedal strike

if you use brakes, they might not reach anymore. make sure you can lower the pads by 4mm.

Yeah what he said.

I got lucky on my beater conversion. The original crappy brakes had enough reach already. If you need to replace the brake, at the LBS ask for brakes with Long Reach.

seen posts where long reach brakes were not long enough, so best to measure to be sure

yeah, I made the mistake of ordering nashbar's long reach road calipers... they don't reach. anybody want some?
