yeah, i saw that on velospace a while back. i love the paintjob. the seat tube's a little too long for me, and the top tube is a too short though. i hope it goes to someone who needs a 51x51.

i'd guess it will probably go for around $700. while it lacks the exclusivity factor of nagasawa, 3rensho, reminton and (possibly) panasonic, kalavinka is one of the better builders along the lines of samson and giro. a schmancy paint job goes a long way...

Times like this I'm almost glad I'm broke because I won't even consider bidding on it. I fear the day I get a real job...

The seller is a nice guy as well. Great frame. I recently rode a Kalavinka for the first time as a loaner. Really nice riding bicycles. Worth every penny.

Nah. Kalavinkas aren't *that* expensive. You can get a custom from him for like $1300 I think.

You know we've all gone too far when we think $1,000+ for a frame is a drop in the bucket. I have two that are over that mark already and I'm only 21!

OOoh man, this *is* my size. I've never even considered a Keirin bike since I have no money, but now I'm mentally sorting through my inventory of stuff to sell. Thanks for posting this!

Remember, you have two kidneys, but technically only use one....

I certainly DO NOT think that is cheap. But when you've got people out there riding on Nagasawa's ($2700), Samson ($2500), and 3Renshos ($1200 used), $1300 doesn't seem that bad for a custom frame built just for you. Hell, $1300 for ANY custom frame is pretty good.

1300 definitely doesn't seem bad for a GOOD quality custom these days.. Chris from Circle A is a relatively small (local) custom builder, and I believe his lugged frames start at 1200... Even used, the price can stay high for a custom as long as they're in good condition. You gotta figure, if it's your size, and you like the colors/decals, then you can eliminate the wait time by buying used.

That is a super hot frame. I will probably never ride a keirin frame because:
  • I'm tall
  • I'm broke
  • I don't do brakeless and it would be a crime to not use the original fork on one of these frames
  • If I were actually going to race at the velodrome I'd get something more modern I wouldn't hate myself forever for crashing

keirin frames would probably do better in a crash than the multitude of aluminum frames out there

My Kalavinka was drilled for a brake Eventually my knees will get grumpy (or I'll move somewhere hilly) may as well be prepared...
