japan trip

hey-

just got my ticket for japan. I've got a couple questions. I'm trying to find a NEW bridgestone/anchor (PCD3 model) and i was wondering what shops i should hit up. i emailed the company, but never recieved a response.
also, if i wanted to go to the keirin races, where are they located? Or does anyone know a way i can get in contact with someone who would know...
thanks

Try talking to Ceya or Tomity here of the forums. They seem to know quite a bit about Japanese racing (Tomity is a keirin racer) and shops.

where abouts will you be in Japan and when will you be there?

if the bridgstone you mentioned is a stock model this store may have it: http://www.takizawa-web.com
they're kinda like the performance/nashbar of Japan. it's in in Maebashi. approx. a 2 hour train ride from Tokyo. then it's about a 15 min hike from the station. this site will tell you how to get there, http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/ exit the station on the side with Matsumoto Kiyoshi, head to the left a few blocks, take a right, then head towards the NTT cell phone tower. once you pass the NTT building it'll be on your right. if you hit the Saty shopping center you went too far. there's a crappy bike shop on the corner, it's right next to it, under a big ass apt building.

these tracks are near Tokyo:
http://www.matsudokeirin.jp/
http://www.tachikawakeirin.jp/
http://www.kawasa****irin.com/

they're a bit hard to understand if you can't read Japanese. if you let me know where and when you'll be in Japan I may be able to help you find a race.

It is not considered bad table manners if you slurp when eating ramen or udon in Japan so go at it....

Since we're on the subject, where is the best place on Honshu to look for deals on frames? I'll probably be studying in Kyoto next year, and wouldn't mind looking around.

a keirin frame? they are few and far between. if you factor in the language barrier it's probably easier to get one in the US. your best bet is to stop by Kalavinka and have one made for you.

on a side note. Japan has a lot more to offer than keirin.

Yeah, like onigiri and shirts with great english on them. The prices of things, though? Not so great.
