Help me with a Front Brake
I have a stock 06 Pista, and it didn't come with a front brake. After much argument with the LBS where I bought it, I've decided just to buy my own as they won't order one for me (although they were very helpful with replacing the wheel as the first one had a cog that slipped like mad even with loctite all over it and the lockring). I just want a simple brake, and was thinking of ordering one from Nashbar, but I don't know which brake will work. Help. Thanks.

Why won't they install a brake for you?
Any of the normal road brakes will work. Cane creek levers are really nice just get two and leave one unconnected. |
They will install one if I buy one. A brake is supposed to come with the Bianchi, but I'm tired of fighting the shop about getting Bianchi to send another. For some reason the shop won't do it, even though they've been extremely with everything else. So I am just going to order a cheap one from the internet and install it myself. Just need to make sure I am ordering the right part.
Here's the brake I am gonna get...this will work right (single pivot point)? http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...0Road%20Brakes |
those are dual pivot which is better. they should work fine.
|
I just bought a brand new dual pivot Ultegra brake on ebay for $30 plus shipping. Dual pivot brake + Kool Stop pads = ready for drivers to do something stupid.

I might take you up on the offer. I'm gonna order the brake right now.

if the pista comes with a brake, why did they put a "no brakes" sticker under the clear coat? (on the 06)
edit: this was a serious question, not a sarcastic remark. |
I have a short reach brake from Nashbar on my 06 Pista, works finecost about $30

I put a used shimano105 brake on my '05 pista. I got a Salsa lever, and used the included shims to
make it fit the handlebars. I have an extra brake and lever. If you wanna buy it, id be willing. |

lemme know - thanks! - eric |
pista brake
Write the distributor directly, tell them about the bike store refusing to give you the brake and ask for one directly from them. Sometimes jumping over someone's head works, especially if you have a serious complaint. Do it!

if it didn't come with a brake i think its a sign... rock it brakeless!

I've been riding it brakeless for a couple months now. I don't have a problem, but lot's of my friends and family worry about me riding w/o one. (Ok fine, just a friend and my mom). So I'm doing it first of all to appease her cause moms rock and they deserve our respect, second because it's just flat out smart to rock one, and third because I'm recovering from four broken vertebrae, and so I can't be stressing my body by riding brakeless. Although I love the clean look and the feeling of not having one, my health and life are more important than reaching some aesthetic goal. Enough bull**** from me, I appreciate everyone's advice, and I'm off to the Bike Kitchen tomorrow to see what they got going on.
