Bottom Bracket Advice
I have a Campy Pista crank(bought new Dec. 2005), the crank requires a 111mm ISO taper
I have a new Campy Record BB English thread 111mm symetrical that I bought for it
Here's my question..
I just bought a new frame with Italian threading,
last night I dug out a veloce road bb italian threading 111mm ISO but it is a road (asymetrical) bb,
Can this be used for now until I save up for a phils later on this year?
What is throwing me is the asymetrical and symetrical diiferences between the 2 bb's(I understand the different load's on the crank,bb,etc) but does this make any difference for just a non track rider
also I was looking at the phil's, I assume they are not symetrical
SO will my older Italian 111mm road bottom bracket work for now??

measure what kind of chainline it gives you and go from there. if it isnt so bad (2-3 mm or so off, whatever) then it should work until you can get the right one. brakes or no?

according to campy specs 111mm with the cranks give a 42.5 chainline..
so I am guessing that any type of ISO taper bb with 111mm will work, I will probably just go ahead and put it on anyway just to see if it will work
no brakes on this build, got brakes on my road and my IRO, this one will be pure track

An assymmetrical BB will give a different chainline than a symmetrical BB, given the same spindle length. How much difference, I don't know. But I doubt that it will ruin your day.

if you don't have the specs for the road bb, just measure it
and see how it compares to the pista...
