stripped/broken/? rear hubs
 

I dunno if this is better in Want to Buy or not, but I figure I'll start here. I'm replacing the axle on my track disc from QR to solid axle, so I'm wondering if anybody has a trashed formula/iro/whatever sealed bearing hub they'd be willing to send my way for the axle, nuts, and possibly bearings. I'll reimburse shipping. Otherwise I'll probably just end up getting one of those $20 nashbar hubs and taking parts off it, but I figured I'd ask this first.

Why not buy an axle? BTW, I'm not sure you'll be able to use any old axle sent your way. Most of them are probably incompatible w/ other manu's models.

yeah, I know the compatibility is probably gonna be a pain in the neck, but I don't have my calipers here, so I can't really do any worthwhile measurements beforehand. I had brought it to my LBS to get track ready, and the best he did was put a 3/8" coaster brake axle in. I can feel a little play in it now, so I'm thinking the 10mm standard will fit fine. I could just buy all the parts, but I figure if someone has a hub lying around that's trashed, it would be cheaper for me, and at least I know everything is there that I would need. Assuming the hubs are the same width. I never thought I would ever say this, but I really miss my vernier calipers right now. I'm such a nerd...

Oh, then you have a threaded axle (loose ball hub?) You're probably golden with a 10mm. BTW, that's what many (most?) Shimano hubs use, so Sh sell 10mm axles. I bought one for $10 last week. Not cheap, but what can you do.

not with shipping my lbs shoots me an axle with cones and nuts for around 8 bucks so that there sir is what you are hunting

nah, it's got cartridge bearings. I think it was a zipp 1150. I would buy an axle from my LBS, but he doesn't like ordering stuff that might not work. I was lucky he did what he did for me.
