Finally done ~ the only Thlyacine fixed gear in the US..

For some of the old timers here.. and for the new timers too. I finally finished building the Thylacine frame.
https://img268.imageshack.us/my.php?i...onebikeib3.jpg

I got the frame in July 2004, and slowly pieced it together.

gold Chris King headset from Performance
FSA stem and vintage areo brakes from Yellow Jersey
Phil Wood single sided high flange track hub from Yojimboís.
Miche Supertype seat post from Yojimboís ~ (possibly the coolest seat post ever for this bike)
FSA time trial bars from Performance.
White Deep Vís (32 hole) from some store in Wyoming.
Phil Wood high flange track hub from Adams Ave bikes in San Diego
Wheels built by Adams Ave bikes in San Diego
Durace track cranks, BB and chain ring from Big Ring cyclery in La Mesa.
NJS Chain from Big Ring cyclery also
Fizik Areone seat from Livermore Cylcery in Livermoore, CA
SPD pedals from Trek in La Mesa (on sale).

After finally finishing everything, I rode it last weekend; and it is pretty F**king nice. Itís a 49x15, which is pretty tall compared to my daily ride of 46x16. But even with that, it rode smooth, but wasnít squishy under my weight or any hard cranking that I did. Itís a fast turner, but not twitchy like some true track frames Iíve ridden. The bike is a middle ground between track and road, ride wise. My only complaint, other than I spent so much time on it, is that the NOS brakes I picked up arenít that great. In December, once I switch jobs, Iíll be able to ride it back and forth to work. But it is fun to ride.

Thanks to a lot of people hear for answering my 5 million questions about pieces and parts. Itís everything I wanted in a bike, and it performs very well.

And to the guy who built it, Warren at Thylacine cycles: thanks, you built a great frame.

Congrats on finally finishing that Thylacine! Good things take time eh? I remember reading about it way back when. Also, I pictured you as much older for some reason. Weird.

Mine is, but only in certain areas, from what I understand. You can ask Warrick, he'll bend your ear.

thylacine sort of sounds like a drug...perhaps appropriately given that it is a bike.

Now you gotta get a bottle of black enamel and paint stripes onto the rims. That would be pretty snazzy!

Nice Job, WK. I'm kinda sad that it's done cuz I always liked seeing your various posts regarding parts and wondering why the heck it wasn't built already. :-)
Now we just need someone to photoshop a pic of Uma Thurman in her "Game of Death" style tracksuit from "Kill Bill" next to that baby.
