new Masi at Interbike

Saw this yesterday at Interbike.

Thought you all might like a look.

The Masi brand has been slipping a lately. This bike does a lot to bring back respectability. My hat's off to the product manager.

i would have put a miche group on that thing.

juvi-kyle 09-28-06 04:23 PM

I would set it up as a bar-spinner...you have anymore info?

mcatano 09-28-06 04:25 PM

That looks a lot like everything people here said they didn't want to see in a "Masi" "track" bike.

But yeah, sweet paint job on that Bareknuckle.

The modern Masi brand has little to do with the Masi of old. Their road bikes are rather ho-hum AL frames from Tiawan now. Respectable, but nothing to write home about.

trons 09-28-06 05:11 PM

for shame

cassette 09-28-06 05:13 PM

whack

recneps 09-28-06 05:31 PM

Sucks.

Those cable guides, dummy lever and ****ty wheels make it a bike that only a roadie wanting winter training will buy and even in that case the roadie will probably go after a more available brand over a masi.

There marketing direct straight sucks. should have come out with something race worthy.

killsurfcity 09-28-06 05:36 PM

why do all budget fixed bikes have a huge clearance between the front wheel and downtube?

Fugazi Dave 09-28-06 05:39 PM

because toeverlap = n00b death

Frame geometry is your home boy.

little girls like 50 on the trail when real men like me like 5.

Masi is owned by Haro if that tells you anything. Another $500 piece of dog****.

when you add room for a brake you end up with a taller fork, thus it's tough to hug the downtube with the front wheel.

Hey I like it, but I am a commuter/roadie fixed gear guy, not from the track.
Too bad they didn't finish it and actually include the rear brake (and use the brazeon cable guides it has)
I'm all for more off the shelf road ready fixed gears to have more choices.

you are a commuter/roadie. there's no reason to include a rear brake.

edit: too harsh, but I can't think of a nice way to say it. stick around for awhile, you'll understand.

I don't have one now, but I want one on my next fixed, or at least may try one.
Safety when pushing speed on decents is becoming more important to me than image/simplicity/weight.
But your right for commuting it useless, its purpose is to avoid/minimize getting dropped on decents with the roadies.

I'm not one for message board arguments. if you want a rear brake that's your prerogative, let's leave it at that. I was rude, I edited, you replied, let's not worry about it.

Not as classic as the originals.
