Is this a Path Racer?

Interesting old Raleigh Carlton frame on Ebay. Track dropouts but drilled for front and back brakes and fenders. I understand that they do some outdoors track racing in the UK. Is this what they mean by a "path racer?"

What a great all-weather commuting/training bike.

Bikes: Many all steel.

I'd say that is a pre-Raleigh buyout of Carlton....which was in the 60's...like 66 I believe....someone should jump on that.

Sorry about starting this thread, by the way. I just noticed the "Path Racer" thread after posting this. Still, it's a gorgeous bike.

On a slightly different tangent, does anyone make these anymore? Or has anyone ever had one made custom?

as we buddhists say life is suffering...well you know we all mourn your loss and I hate the fact that this forum cost me a shot at a Carlton a week ago on ebay....but I'm not gonna get all p!ssy about it...

It was an on-one ya lost?

no apparently it was a Miyata(luv this profile stuff)... sucks dude...theives are savages...but they are everywhere....

I think in posting worthy purchases we're all (generally) helping eachother out.

Path racers were for riding fixed for time trials, road riding (training or touring) or track racing (historical note: path = track). Grass track bikes are slightly different, allowing knobby wider tyres and often have no fittings for mudguards.

Here's my latest addition(posted else where, i'm sorry i don't know how to link up) a Peter Bundy( Aussie builder) that I think you'd call a path racer. track fork and dropouts, drilled for brakes w/ cable guides. No fender or bottle braze on's. I've never ridden a true track bike but this bike doesn't fit or feel any different than any of my roadies so I'm assuming it's built to road geometry.
I've had the bike for a few weeks now, I was working on a fixed conversion when I found this on craiglist, I couldn't resist and now it's built it's all I've been riding.

$190 US is hella expensive? I bet it goes for close to three times that.

That's my point. It's hella expensive for starting bids by a plethora of contenders.

One-three people maybe...but that many bidders and it's a war in the final 2 minutes.

What kind of fool bids early on something like that? That's the kind of thing where bid what it's worth to you in the last 30 seconds and if you get it, great.
