Someone should find out what that Bianchi he has for trade is. Dumb college kids with dad's old racing bike are an easy way to pick up classic road bikes on the cheap.

Not sure what kind of 70s frames are best for this (besides the horizontal dropout thing).
I've currently got an old 10 speed nikishi that i was thinking about using for the convert, but the frame is slightly too big for me. paid about $60 for the nikishi.
In the process of looking for an old frame for this purpose what are the best brand names to look for? or is it not that simple?

I would not buy it. If you search through Vancouver CL, you'll see that seller have a lot of bike listings, and most of them are priced pretty optimistically.
Be patient. Keep looking.

That's a pretty good deal for $1k. I'm not surprised that no one wants it though, since there are no Deep V wheels or riser bars.

It appears to be a good deal for an actual track bike. I wonder if anyone'll go for it.

Well, if you start an auction at $1000 on a $1000-$1200 item, you shouldn't expect any bidding until the last few minutes. I suspect there will be a few bids, it's getting into track season, after all.
