Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Or its mileage, used in determining how sheer perfect it is.

"This is the nicest fixed gear bike ever. It hurts to sell this bike. Driven it about six times and is just over a month old. "

(I like my alex rims, but hell it was only 240 for the set, hand laced to formulas! not to mention the rest of his parts list isnt exactly worth 750. im sure its the pimp, ultra-light ultra-rare tarck frame)

alex rims are fine once you've retensioned them after 50 miles or so. And given how much it's been ridden I dont think that's happened.

Dont ever say that word again.

Oh and the frame is boutique. It sounds ******.

Probably ride her twice then it'd steel your wallet and leave a double decker.

Uhm, i dont know if id spend that much on a first fixed build, at least, not until youve ridden fixed and know what you want.

id honestly buy an old frame or find one and go from there, no point spending piles of moo for a high-end frame when youre starting out.

but apart from that? could well be. what the hell is made in padua, and why doesnt he have any pictures? id research it well for that price.

EDIT: yeah dont say fixie, its degrading.

a reasonable thing to do would be to ride that as a road bike with gears

if you're buying something purely to convert, don't destroy a perfectly good bike

you'll spend as much for that bianchi - because of the high end components (most of which you'll strip off in the conversion) - as you will with a new frame...

get something like this if you're looking for just a frame

+1, theres a lot of junkers out there with really nice frames selling for thrift.

plus i would never buy a bike with a dent in the top tube.

I would say if that's full campy and you get it for $100, you'd be incredibly lucky. Not sure how high I'd go though, that's really up to your discretion, and how much money you have since you also are trying to build up a conversion as well, which can be a money hole. In conclusion....I don't know, I've made some pretty bad decisions about overspending on bikes I've built.

I'm so tired of this lecture. What makes a nice converted road bike any less acceptable than a track bike?

because in 10 years you wont be semi-responsible for the complete lack of classic road bikes due to every single one being converted.
