hey all. i just moved to freiburg, germany. i have no bike. i want biiiiike. so far ive found:
http://cgi.ebay.de/Bahn-Rahmen-Frame...QQcmdZViewItem
but im nearly 6'2" sooo tempting but.
anyone wanna help me find a ride? is there a german craigslist or something? i went to a fleamarket this morning and found a classic pinarello fitted with moustache bars (almost missed it because of that) for 70euro!! but it was like 52cm. sigh.
oh and what are your thoughts on this:

if i understand right the first one is a 57 and the second is a 54, you're more likely to get a comfortable fit on the 57, i'm 6'4 and i comfortably ride either a 58 or a 59 but everyone is different, the colnago seems like a steal too

Ebay shops under ebay.ch have some nice large frames (tomassini etc) see there for example.

crap colnago doubled in price. and oops on the other one didnt notice how small it is. thanks for the link vobopl the hunt continues....

coelcanth 10-09-06 11:02 PM

eeven if the second one doubled in price it would still be worth it just for the wheelset

would you pay say... $400?

Aeroplane 10-13-06 11:33 AM

I don't know... you'd have to post the actual auction or ad in the Ebay/CL sticky in order to get accurate pricing info.

donkekus 10-13-06 11:37 AM

The real question is how do you say track bike in German? Or Fixed gear, or whatevs.

Although I am all about Ebay.BE, if ya know what I mean...

acorn_user 10-13-06 08:34 PM

Searching "Bahn" will probably bring up the track stuff. If you just want a horizontal dropout frame, try "Rennrad", "Kult" or "Oldtimer". You never know. Great place to find cheap dyno hubs though :)

acorn_user 10-13-06 08:35 PM

I forgot, there is an On-One importer, so you should be able to track down an Il Pompino. They are really highly rated in England, and are pretty cheap by our standards. Try them.

ephemeralskin 10-14-06 06:08 PM

hmmm pompino is chromoly? and compact geometry? hmm. wonder how it rides, what it weighs. 350us seems steep for 4130 crmly.

acorn_user 10-14-06 08:54 PM

go to the cycling plus forum. there are about fifty posts about the pompino a day....
they have a great reputation. they also have cool canti's.

ephemeralskin 10-15-06 07:42 PM

holy freakin crap on my mother! this just came in (swiftly) and im currenlty tryin to close the deal for everything pictured for 90euro. blimey. (oh and its a re-tagged sannino doy.)

ephemeralskin 10-15-06 07:43 PM

oops actually saddle not included. even if this frame doesnt work out for some reason, i cant help myself... my new winter bike. yay for practicality! bring on the snow.. lol.

comments suggestions for setup options needed. what to do with that front end... wheelset.. crankset.. hmmmmm..
comparing this to tuomos infamous pursuit frame, it looks really really similar. fork has obviously more rake and then the seattube is all wonked up but... yeah. pretty similar. i wonder what tubing this one has.

same dudes also selling this set for 75euro + shipp. someone already jumped on it though. http://www.tortouren.de/tour_forum/colnago_005.jpg

coelcanth 10-16-06 03:43 PM

wait where is that bike ?
i don't think you need check ebay if this is your local shop
is it for a 650C front ?

if i had this bike (i whish) the c-record seatpost might say c-record all the way...
or maybe some superbe pro ?
seatpost is perfect though

ephemeralskin 10-16-06 04:19 PM

yeah 650c in the front.. this is timetrial circa 1989. and the seatpost is campy c-r, as are the bb and headset. stem and bars are 3ttt.

this should be in my hands by the weekend. now i am feverishly hunting for a front wheel and a crankset.. any guess as to that bb length? i plan on putting my phil wood 700c in the back... hope it fits nice.

Aeroplane 10-16-06 05:03 PM

Shops that have a lot of tri stuff will have a ton of 650c parts.

coelcanth 10-16-06 08:59 PM

my guess is the spindle will be 115 or so for a 70mm bb shell and a strada double
based on a nr spindle i have

i'd guess the rear spacing will be 126mm too

ephemeralskin 10-17-06 05:50 AM

650c.. im finding a lot of tri stuff, but riding on the streets.. with cobbstones and streetcar tracks (not to mention the 'bächle').. id be happier with something a little more solid that can take cross tires. a mtb wheel on this would look ********, right?
maybe i should just look for hubs and rims... build what i want myself.
