+1....stick with 27" wheels on these old frames...it looks better and keeps the BB the proper height. If you are going to build new wheels, I suggest Sun CR18 rims....available in 27" and totally bombproof. Otherwise, I have seen prebuilt 27" fixed gear wheels for reasonably cheap. Check sheldonbrown.com. I think I've seen 27" fixed gear wheels on ebay recently as well.

save money for a proper fixed gear.

i know, probably the lamest suggestion.
