agreed, it does not have the coverage of their old ones, but is still rather nice!

I picked up a WALZ wool w/ earflaps and really like it! Great coverage and perfect weight (ie. not too hot/thick)

For winter I usually wear a wool jeep cap. 100% wool, and $8 at any Army Navy store. They look like crap, but keep my bald head and ears warm in the elements.

I'd like something a bit nicer looking though for when I wanna look good, and one of the Deller caps caught my eye.

Interesting..It looks like jackie walz has a website, and some new colors, styles, and materials..and MUCH higher prices.. It also seems as if they have a stiff bill now?

not that much higher. She's now charging $10 for what she used to charge $6. $6 was way to cheap, and I really couldn't figure out how she was making anything off them at $6 each. I'd pay $10 for her hats, if they fit me well, but they don't.

The one i got from them (cotton blend) dose not have a stiff peak & 10.00 + 3.00 S&H not bad. Last one I got from my LBS was more.
Cheers

Very interesting hat. It works as a crazy helmet!

eh- for your head, you don't need to distribute force, like you would with other parts of the body. your skull does a pretty good job of that.
You need to give yourself some more time to decelerate, so your brain doesn't go slapping around inside your skull. Unfortunatly, barring some force-field style tech advance, you can't buy deceleration time without a big, dorky helmet. The more foam you have to crunch through on the way to the pavement, the better.

If you're too cool to wear a helmet, then that hat might be better than nothing come crashtime, i guess.

where did you score that????

kiakarimi 12-07-06 07:37 PM

Dustin from Cadence will often times have a bunch of stuff, hats included that aren't on the website. Try emailing him and see if he has anything else similar.

At a thrift store in Chicago. I know! They import jerseys and bike **** from Italy and sell them at thrift store prices. But the hat wasn't that cheap.

schu 12-14-06 04:14 PM

fyi, looks like cadence has a few more of those hats now.

Stert 12-14-06 05:19 PM

i just got my walz cap in the mail today. i like it. only thing i would change, i would prefer a smaller bill. anyone know of a wool hat with a smaller bill?

cabana 4 life 01-10-08 07:09 PM

cole

Fugazi Dave 01-10-08 07:36 PM

The new caps look good.

frankstoneline 01-10-08 08:49 PM

That hat looks rad! Might have to retire one of my older watch caps or flapped wool hats for one of those badboys. Always looking to add to my hat armada.

cabana 4 life 01-11-08 02:43 PM

thanx for looking. im wearing one right now and i have to say yanco makes a really nice hat.

PhattTyre 01-11-08 02:59 PM

I had a Kucharik wool ear flapped cap that I really liked. It was warm, but not hot and the bill kept rain off my glasses. I lost it on a bike tour and really miss it.

as do i. i bought a l/xl walz ear flap cap and a l/xl black cotton cap and they are just barely bigger than the original size. originally, walz sent the original size and I had to ship them back for the larger size. the larger size seem to fit a little better, but still ride up every now and then.
