Aerospokes on the road?
I'm looking for a totally bomb proof front wheel, seeing as I have taco'ed my 4th wheel this weekend. Are Aerospokes worth the weight? and how much do they REALLY weigh?? They look absolutely forking badass regardless of anything.

4 wheels in one weekend? jeesh.
|
Oh ... no. I meant since April.

I used to ride Aerospokes back when I raced tri's, and I never had a problem with them in 3 years of racing (and 4 more years of riding them on the street.)

What on earth are you doing that you have blown four wheels? Time to find a new wheel builder.
|
KRULL!! i love that movie!!!
i almost got an aero spoke, but at the last moment found a spin fiber trispoke for dirt cheap, but just saw that pic on the other thread of the guys trackstanding on the bar top with a white aerospoke...wishing I would have gone that route. oh well....that white one looks so cool. |
I endorese them.

No legitimate reason?

To have destroyed 4 wheels since April? Well, I guess getting hit by a car 4 times is legitimate. So yeah, if it's something like that, I take that back. But if it's from normal riding and "normal" crashes, then a new wheelbuilder/rim choice is in order. |
Is that the new thing? No shoes? |

I ride aerospoke front wheel...those listed wheel weights sound pretty realistic. the thing weighs more than my rear wheel even with cog and lockring on it.
apart from weight, there are no issues with the wheel. they hold up in pot holes and what not. *but* it's a flexy wheel...so if you run a front brake, you may need to space the pads a little further apart. it's also pretty crazy to ride in a heavy crosswind, but what aero wheel wouldnt be? it'd totally get one if you're all gung ho about durability--they're sexy to boot! http://xs410.xs.to/xs410/06493/LemondColorSelect2.jpg |

I ain't recommend no Aerospokes. That is all.

But my point was that he shouldn't NEED to go so extreme solely for the sake of strutural integrity. A normal well built wheel should not fail at the rate he has experienced (to say nothing of the fact that an aerospoke can't be trued, so after a minor accident it could be trash). I'm not saying don't get an aerospoke, I'm just saying there is a bigger problem at hand here. |
gotcha, i thought maybe that was your point, but i wasn't totally sure.

so... uh... how do you break four wheels in seven months?

It's a good look, besides HR needing a foot tan. Style like that don't come easy. What's the name of the dude who got famous riding bikes barefoot? |
