I just got velocity deep Vs and, I dont know if im just paranoid about flats, but it
looks like my rear tire is squishing against the pavement more than they did on my
MA-3s. Its the same tubes, tires, and pressure.

Anyone notice anything like this?

Sometimes air gets out of tire. When that happens, you're supposed to put more air into it.

Yes, you do need tires for your Deep V's.

I pumped the tire, which is on the rim, to 110 PSI. I then rode.
It immediately looked like it had lost air.

Does the rim have rim tape to cover any rough spot that might pop the tube?

Bead seat width (that has another name but I can't remember it) and the profile of the area where the tube sits against the rim make a difference for how the tire is going to look on there from rim to rim. Just go ride, if something is wrong your bike will let you know by pinch flatting.

I opted for the Velo-Plugs instead of tape.

more space for the tire the tube to expand to, more of that area is below the rim, i guess that could create the illusion of the tire not being as inflated looking as normal? just hypothesizing.

Narrower rims mean the tires are taller and squish out wider when you sit on the bike.

Are these rims narrower than your previous ones?

Deep V's have a bit deeper hook than an MA3--I have both and my tires on my MA3's definately appear to sit "higher" over the lip of the rim.
