using double straps in soma clips
these clips
does anyone have them? can you fit double straps through there? or is there some other way of using double straps with clips meant for single straps that i don't know about? or do you have to suck it up and use clips that are meant for double straps? thanks! |
i use doubles on those. a little awkward, but do-able.

Why is it awkward with the Soma clips in particular? Aren't all double straps a bit awkward?
|
compared to the MKS clips, for instance:
http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c...52_1927_360419 the top of the soma clips are really wide (because of the two flanges instead of one), and I find that interferes with the doubles a bit. that would be the same issue, I think, with these (also sold by soma): http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c...2_1927_7485843 but it could just be the way I have it set up... |

I set it up the same on both. The front strap just looping over the cage. I ditched the Soma's though as I could not tighten down enough w/ toshi doubles. The wide loop on the cage would hit on the strap latch before they were tight enough. Went back to MKS.

that's precisely it. that's what I was trying, in half-english, to convey.

10 1/2 or 11 depending on brand, but I have some pretty flat feet, so they are pretty wide.

I use doubles with the soma clips and its been working fine, I do see what gwhalin is saying though, I wouldn't be able to tighten mine down much more than they are already. I wear a 12-13

I have this combination and have been having the same issue (although I was able to get it tight enough to be usable).
Still, I am happy because this is probably the burliest clip/strap combination out there. If you've ever busted a strap going downhill you know what I am talking about. I've toyed with the idea of shaving off a little of the fat part leading up to the non-buckle side. If the buckles can get lower, they won't run up against the eyelet and you should be able to get it tighter. |
