my last two pair of wheels have been built by trackstar. they've both been rock solid and problem free, and i recommend them. i don't know about the spokes.
on that note though… i have a set of wheels to build, and a few of us were talking about getting a tutorial/group build together here in nyc, so maybe you wanna get down with that. it would be my first build. hit me up either here or on the nyc board if you're interested |
but will they be kinda pissed about me giving them the rims and the hubs? i just want them to build them up. caused theres been some discussion here about how lbs don't like when u buy stuff from other vendors.

you're paying for the build, no? both times i've took em hubs and rims, bought spokes from them and paid for the build. no problem, as far as i know

i'm down for that wheel building clinic u mentioned, would this be on the weekend? oh, have you've been riding your custom bike you got not too long ago?
|
My local shop charges $40 per wheel.

32 hole CXP22, I would go straight gauge if you weigh over 200 or weigh like 175 but pedal like a beast. Would not do it unless you're like 250 if you're terrible about hitting potholes and ****e.
Take it slow and you can build your own easily. The shop won't care about parts so much if they can sell you spokes, spokes are like .35-.50 each for the shop. |
most shops seem to get $1.00 ea. for DT champion spokes double butted. i rather have the DT compition i think?

Easy as pie, you'll have them built in less than an hour. |
If yer skeeved about usin yer own parts, schlepp them over to Gotham and ask for Sammy.

lacing a wheel is super easy.. i recommend taking the hub and rim to the shop, having them cut you spokes, and going home lacing it, and getting it as tensioned and true as you can. take it to the shop and ahve them finish it off. if they are anything like the shops around here, it will cost you between 5-15 per wheel.
