LBS's with used parts in NYC?
I've just relocated here, to NYC. Every city I've lived in so far has had that place with lots of old used parts in bins and you get your hands greasy looking though them but never find anything that great, but you still keep going back anyways because theres great stuff for beaters and its kind of fun to rummage. Does that place exist here in NYC? if so where?

In NYC, Rent is so high, very few places have true junk bins. There are a few "used bike corners" around, like one off Graham Ave near Metropolital in Brooklyn, where hobbyist mechanics run a little corner shop. Other than that, I dunno.

there's the two recycle a bicycle shops:
Ave C bet. 5th & 6th manhattan
and
55 Washington St bet. Front & Water
i've never been to the one in brooklyn but the other one seems to fit your description
although it's kindof cramped when busy and you'd have to ask for the crates to dig through them

Thanks for the info everyone. I've lived in Houston which had the 3rd ward community bike project, Austin which had Yellow Bike, San Francisco which had lots of places, and Portland which had CityBikes.
I'll check out the few places reccomended.
Are there any places that let you use their tools and workstand?
