If you're spending this kind of money on high end gear, and have to ask this kind of advise, I'd seriously question yourself as to why you're building this bike, to ride or to try and impress people.....

who cares? let the man have his fun.

Foreal! Impressing people is a part of society. It builds self-efficacy and esteem.

I don't know of one sane person that didn't want to make an impression, good or bad, on somebody.

Better with a purple bike than an impressive collection of used syringes.

I am just sued to the road scene. I have a BMC ProMachine, and a DeRosa Primato...so I only know about sealed ish. I like and value high level parts. Both of my bikes are built with 2007 Campy Record UT Carbon. That's why I want to put the same level of stuff on my Samson....but I am just not as familiar with Track parts as i am with the road stuff....savvy? Of course impressing people is fun, but it's more to impress me. I like riding an dlooking down at a cool stem, or hub in front of me...ya know?

I like a bike I can lock up without getting the stink eye from jealous types and would-be theives.

For me it's all about the ride, it's not a fashion show. That's not to say I don't have nice looking parts or frames, but looks are way down on the list. Hell, I have a Colnago, the paint doesn't get much worse than that!

Spokecard bank 2007!

adamsallez 01-09-07 06:44 PM

Yeah, for sure! I dunno. I am an art student...and for some reason, god knows why...aesthetics are important to me. It is still function over form, but if for a few extra $$$ I can get it to look cool too...why not? I am cool with $ right now cuz I sold my car which was the epitome of "showoff"...so I figure the least I can do is have a few (3) rad bikes to make riding in the rain in Seattle a little more bearable! Word!

adamsallez 01-09-07 07:30 PM

Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous! Every time i build a New bike I'm like...this will be my beater. I said this with my DeRosa Primato...which is now clad in 2007 Campy Record Carbon, Ksyrium ES, and Fizik Arione...etc etc. It's a sub 20lb Steelie...what a waste. It makes a good commuter and training bike though. My BMC ProMachine stays on the wall until Summer. I bought the Samson with the idea to keep it rough...i'm SURE that will NOT happen. I have a problem! Help me FIX it!

i envy your flow. i for one would spend the cash on class over sass, but to each his own. at the end of the day it'll still be a cherry bomb that (i hope) get's the **** ridden out of it.

localtalent 01-10-07 02:13 PM

Eagerly awaiting build pictures, so hurry up and do it.

adamsallez 01-10-07 02:33 PM

Will do!

looks count, but does anyone think that's a little too much gold?

EAI needs to come out with a smoke grey finished gruppo, like Shimano 105 cranks or old campy century. I'd save up for that.

Thinking that would require me to believe there is such a thing as too much gold.

DerekRI 01-10-07 03:59 PM

The green is for the money, the gold is for the hunnies.

There's already some anno "gun metal grey" Nitto stuff out in Japan. I'm sure if you called EAI enough times, they might consider stocking it...
