Stem measuring

Got a stem here that has no markings and someone may want it. Not sure of the exact length of it and not sure where to measure to and from.
How are the 'typically' measured?

thanks

like many things, center to center along the length.

if it is a quill, i think you would measure from center of tightening (expander??) bolt to where the center diameter of where the handlebar would be. *i think??*

Thanks alot....that's kinda what i figured. :) I was doubting it because in that case this stem is like 110mm. Long ass.
Common sense i suppose.
Domo.
