The obeys are in all the shops.

I thought that 17man seems a little much for what you get?

I hope I wasnt misleading
on their website the silver set is listed as 33,390 and the all black is 32,780, but that is list and some shops (not many) will go a bit below it.

the cheapest I have seen is 25,000 for the black set at Wakatsuki in Noborito, but it looks like they don't have them in stock now:
https://www7.plala.or.jp/cpswakatsuki/index.html

I haven't ridden them myself but have heard nothing but good things.

If i remember correctly, the black frames downtube is altered to look like that, as in the downtube is really the same tubing as the rest of the bike, and the guys just added on to it using something (don't remember) to make it look big and aero.

Not 100% sure on that though, I think I remember hearing it this way but could be wrong.

the downtube on the black frame was carbon-laying practice. it's an Eimei underneath I think.

there are cracks in various spots from the steel flex at the head and seat tubes. more pics later.
that one-off Tange aluminum(!!) is really pretty ****ing radical.

the rims are most likely from the same factory as Gipiemme but I am not 100% on that.

the_don,

I haven't the opportunity to be on the inside of "the fixed-gear scene" and personally don't understand much of the sentiment on particular bikes. (I just enjoy riding my fixed gear mountain bike and, now, my road bike.) FWIW, I also find the Fuji Obey extremely nice looking.

The first time I ever saw one was at a local bike shop; one of the guys who work there pulled his Obey out from the back to show me. It was absolutely beautiful. I don't know whether this guy is a hipster or poser or whatever terminology is popular within the fixed community, but I do know that he participates in various bike races, including the Sea Otter Classics, road racing and track racing. He also commutes to work from the East Bay to the Peninsula on his bike -- which is over 35 miles one way. He certainly loves his Fuji Obey. <Shrug>
