The only problem is that I don't think Tony is offering a 46cm
frame with this buy-in. He's a pretty accommodating guy though,
so you might want to drop him a line and see if he'll make a one-
off for you. It doesn't seem like it's a big deal to add a new size,
since he's making me a 50cm Rob Roy.

I wanna do a build for my wife. She requires a 27-28" standover and I was thinking that the 50cm could work with smaller wheels, but she needs a brake...so...yeah. I'm not sure if the long reach calipers will, um, reach.
Anyone?

I noticed that the website has the stand over heights for all the other frames except this one. If I find out then maybe I'll be in. I have to think this over.

I called Tony already on Monday about the 46cm. He said no to ordering them in the new frameset. Perhaps you can ask him about buying a discounted Mark V? Also, if we get enough people together that are willing to do a 46, maybe he would do it. I think he didn't want to do just one though.

****, with me getting a 46 as well, we are up to 4 people.
Lets wait until Wednesday. I will call him again and tell him x people want a 46, will you do it for the new frames, or just Mark Vs for these people.

If we can get a nice even number like 10, I am sure it would be worth his while...I mean this thing is taking off (250+ deposits alreay or some crazy number!--a bunch in Road Cycling are ordering too.)

I just hope he doesn't feel like he is being taken advantage of. He is doing this because he knows we all suport his company and send him business, be it by way of the forum or word of mouth. If we can get 10 people that want a small frame, I will clal him and see if it is possible. If not, just get a 46cm Mark V as thanks for being so generous.

--I doubt it. I mean, although I have no idea, even at this great deal I don't think he is doing it at a loss...and anyway people can't help their height.

But he is gaining a pretty high volume of sales that he
likely wouldn't have had otherwise. If he gets 300
orders, and it looks like he's approaching that (if the
250 number is to be believed), then he's looking at
a sudden surge of $45,000 in capital. I have no idea
what his profit margins are like, but there is a lot to
be said by gaining in volume what you lose in margin.
He also puts 300 of his brand bikes into the hands of
people who are active in biking communites in their
towns all around the world and on the internet. IRO
seems like a company that has been built almost
entirely on word of mouth, so it sounds like a smart
business decision to me.

i think that number (250) refers to the amount of orders placed in 2007, but a good chunk of them are this frameset

I am coming into this WAY too late. However, if anyone was interested in putting together a group buy for Rob Roys and Tony's dealing, I'm in.

I think earlier today we were at 103. He is doing them in batches of 50 (I believe) and this is the third batch. The other two were 50 a piece for sure.
Anyways, I'm not saying that he is losing out on business or money, its definitely a good move. I just think he wasn't expecting 150 sales when this started (hell, I thought we'd be lucky to get 50) and I hope he doesn't feel like everybody is only buying them because they are $150. I think people outside of bikeforums are picking up on it, and I think some people might be buying in in order to flip it for profit. Which would be a very ****ty thing to do.

Seen people flipping, or people talking about the frames?
