Brake Lever on risers?

Thinking about putting a riser bar on my Peugeot fixed build. Any recc.'s for brake levers? BMX levers are wicked cheap on ebay. Any problem using these with a regular side pull caliper?

i think a time trail brake will look great, a bit like on the old motorbikes. but possibly it hard for the hand to use

Tektro cyclocross lever.

+ Hinge clamp for mounting. Makes for an easy install and or removal.
+ Can be used on drop bars or riser bars with a bit of shim material. (Cut some inner tube)
+ Small lever like bmx.
+ Works with side pull brakes

bmx levers should work fine, just check clamp diameter.

Some of those vintage bmx levers are pretty cool. I have a old suntour Hole Shot, and it works good. Hinged clamp makes it easy to install/uninstall

It's really easy to bend a BMX lever to fit around a
modern bar. Just put it in your vice to bend it, and
cover any distance with a longer screw.

I would say a tektro cross lever as well.. You can get them for cheap on nashbar. In fact, the nashbar branded ones are actually tektro 2.1 cross levers. IMO, these are a whole lot easier to put on and take off than a bmx lever, since the clamp has a hinge. With these levers, you can route the cable on either end...giving you more flexibility on placement for your drops.
That being said, if you really want a bmx lever, I have one that I'd be willing to let go. PM me.. i'm in boston as well.

A bunch of BMX levers also have a hinge. I'd go for BMX over the cross lever. Works better with sidepulls.

old mtb levers (for canti brakes) work and can be found cheap sometimes...

Not recommended for Al parts. I had a brake lever fail from hijinks like this once, I basically only stopped because I was yarding on the whole brake assembly. Not cool.

Edit: the performance/nashbar cross levers are tektros/cane creeks, same thing comes up on ebay a lot too.
