The beer can comes with beer but being the skittish type I bought the Nitto shims and they work very well.

I'm told that the beer can method works, but you have to f with a bunch of prototypes first if you want to get it just right. Maybe someone can figure out the exact right shape to cut out, then measure it up and put it in the diy thread?

I have beer can shimmed seatposts and quill stems with no problem. The beer cans I used had a thickness of 0.1mm. Interestingly, I currently run a 25.4 mm stem in a 26.0 clamp. The bolts are tightened almost all the way, but it has never slipped

Why don't you just buy some .010" stainless shim stock? One full wrap without overlap will bring a 25.4 bar up to 25.9. McMaster-Carr part no. 9011K88 stainless steel shim stock. 6x12" for $7.09, and it will make all the shims you will probably ever need.

Assuming that the beer can is .1 mm thick you would need 5, not ten because when you wrap the shim around the bars you are adding .1 mm all the way around the bar. This increases the circumference by .2mm.
