- go to homeless despot and get some threaded rod, large flat washers, and suitable nuts - done!

find a board
if none is available remove a table leg(soft wood preferably)
place against headset and hit with a mallet.
if no mallet is available just beat the headset with the board.

There is a moderate chance you will get the headset in without ****ing up it or the headtube.

Just pound the cups in with a hammer and piece of wood scrap. Remember to lubricate!

cut up some 2x4 wood and use a long bolt. I used the bolt from a Strut/spring compressor.

Or you could wait until Sunday and we'll press the cups in with a headset press. One thing that sucks about our headset press is that we're missing one of the guidepieces to make sure the forces are equal all the way around the cup. You just have to use your eye to line it up even all the way around the best you can...a little better than a board, though.

In Lieu of an actual Park tool that is a great solution

Meh, if you can't wait have your lbs do it. Mine charged me $5 cash did a bang up job and it only took a minute. Much better than buying $5 worth of stuff from home depot, then spending several hours wrecking my bike with my own ineptitude.

hmmm.....at $5 per pressing, my $5 Home Depot press has saved me over $150 in labor charges so far...:D

That's a great solution- i've done it with the threaded-bolt/washer combo, but the bronze bushings look like a much better system.

Turns out you ARE good for something. I'm gonna make one this weekend!

Used this multiple times but without the bushings (looks just like Fixer's). Awesome. Do it.

OK, got the headset cups in, now do you guys have a way to mill down my fork crown race .6 mm since for some reason the one I got is 27.0 instead of 26.4?? Theres always something.

For that you need a bike shop. There is a specific tool for that. They charged me $5 last time I did this.

that is pretty good mine was a little more I went for brass bushings stead of washers it is a little easier on the king headset and or normal cups

Hmm you have a point Fixer. If I build many more bikes i will have to get off my ass and learn to do ghetto headset installation. This was a first build and im chicken.

no point in pressing the headset in all nice if the head tube hasn't been faced...

is it smart to get a couple of hard rubber washers also, so as not to damage the headset surface?

And how would you determine the size of the bushings... I would guess just take the headset with you to the hardware store... but should they fit snugly or just slightly loose?
