Any of you mad scientists done it? Total overkill but it sounds like a pretty awesome winter setup to me.

It'd be pretty 'spensive. The fixxer is pretty spendy by itself, but you'd probably need a EBB since I don't thing I've ever seen a disc brake frame with horizontal dropouts. I'd rather just run a disc up front and rim brakes in the rear but if it's the look/style your after, go for it!

There are quite a few ss disc MTB frames that have disc tabs and track ends and others with disc tabs and sliding dropouts, but the project frame I have has vertical drops. If I lived in a snowy part of the world I would probably give it a shot.

I'm not seriously considering this. I already bought a singlespeed kit and will run ss with dual discs and a tensioner. 130 spacing on a disc aluminum frame really limits my options. It just occured to me that it is doable, if a little crazy/spendy.

Well sure, if you all want to pick out specific frames, there are tons of bikes with track ends and dsc brake tabs. . .wait, so does my Soma Juice.

It does sound like a neat setup. If you do it, show us the pics.

Makes me think of my ultimate coastie city bike idea - custom Nicolai road frame, dual disc brakes, and either a Rolhoff Speedhub or a Gearboxx-based drivetrain. Flat bars, 700c wheels with skinnies, etc.

Sweet, I guess I'm a little out of it. Sounds like there are quite a few good options, I think it would look super rad.

I only have this and a few odds and ends so far. I'm pretty much settled on a cassette cog and tensioner setup and running it ss for a while. Might run gears later. Since I'll be able to adjust chainline with the ss kit I'll probably throw a bb for a road double in there. The wheel situation is up in the air but I have a few leads. This bike is going to be a craigslist/ebay special as much as possible.

Cassette hub and fixxer is about the worst solution I can imagine. No way I'd spend a fortune on a ****ty rear wheel.
