Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

If a Windsor thread got locked (which it did), this one should be locked, and throw the key away please.

1898 Crescent Model 11, from the ebay thread. Bars are mounted upside down. Note wood rims! I love this bike. It really shows you how little has changed in cycling.

Edit: rehosted pic on my webspace, see if that works onetwentyeight

If you are asking me, that's not my bike. Some ebayers want US $1400 for it if you're interested, auction ends in a couple of days. I would love a bike like that, but it's a museum piece and I'd be sorely tempted to update the rims and ride it into the ground.

Edit: here's the auction https://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-Bicycle-...hash=item12007 9528434

I'd love to have that bike too but I'd fix it up and ride it like it is. It's when I see things like that that I wish I was rich. There was a traveling bike museum at a race I did in Virginia last year that had old bikes like that. After seeing those it's been a dream of mine to once start a small collection.

Here is another for your enjoyment:
