Hopefully you guys in C-Bus are having as much fun as I am in Oxford. Crazy slick streets and no end in sight! I've already eaten it once, although I find that turns aren't as difficult as I had imagined as long as I do a little rear wheel hopping mid-turn.

Brent and I just got off from working at Jimmy John's and it was f***ing ridiculous. The streets are horribly icy here. Glad you enjoyed yourself though.

yup, its a mess, it got slick about 2 seconds after the snow started falling just after 2pm, then it was ok for about an hour then rush hour started, it really sucked after that
I rode from south end of downtown to parsons ave and broad street out of the saddle the whole way, it was the only way to keep the front wheel planted, and downtown itself all around the capital was a big slow moving parking lot, I had to pick my way thru that mess a few times.
Now Im trying to decide whether or not to get the mtb with studs out or not. It still snowing right now. Doubt I will be very busy tomorrow, but still, aint no telling what the streets will look like till then. City needs to learn to use the plows and ease up on the salt, and drop sand at intersections.

I would bust out the snow bike if I was you Pedex, but I don't know what it's like in the city. Here in Granville/Newark the roads are really ****ty.

all the slush and crap will probably be plowed off the streets by tomorrow, i bet itll be okay, though you probably know better than I. today was miserable though.
all because of this thread i rode my bike to classes today and was stranded on west campus. skids were fun, but traffic was scary because i had little ability to stop and there was so much slush.

Snow storms like this are exactly why one of my bikes has front and rear brakes...

Quick Rundown on LBS's
Northland Schwinn - Waaaaaaaaaaaay up high street @ 4584. Lotsa good stuff, not quite the selection of other places
BikeSource - 2887 N. High, in a prettied-up storefront. Lotsa good stuff to be found.
Baer Wheels - 3030 N. High, 4 blocks N. of BikeSource. Lotsa good stuff there
Handy Bikes - 1055 W. Fifth - Thats across the River. Not a lot of great components, but they got a big storeroom where you might find what you're lookin for.
Once Ridden - Corner of Indianola & Tompkins - You'll find a lot of used bikes cheap. I got my univega there for only $200 The guy there is from the south and smokes like a chimney
Cheap Food
Gumby's Pizza - Couple blocks South of Hudson on High, East Side of the Street in a strip mall. The pizza is so-so and the service is slow-slow, but it's still only 5 bucks for a large Pizza.
Zeta - Block north of Buttles on High. Get a good gyro for under $2.
You should be able to bike to all of these places.
BTW critical mass here sucks. Last month's CMass consisted of myself and Thenathanator.
That's all I can think of right now.... someone add more stuff. And opinions on the BIke shops.

A couple places I can think of off the top of my head:
Bodega ($1 grilled cheese sandwhiches every Monday) 1044 N High St
The Surly Girl Saloon (which has really great pizza) 1126 N. High St.
The Northstar Cafe (vegetarian/vegan) 951 N. High St.
Pattycake Vegan Bakery 3009 N. High St.
Yau's Chinese (pretty cheap and a lot of different tofu options) 1493 N. High St.
Blue Danube Restaurant (cheap food and a laid back vibe) 2439 N High St
Hounddogs Pizza (probably the best pizza in Columbus) 2657 N High St
The High Five (has pretty decent shows from time to time) 1227 N High St
Cafe Bourbon Street (Karaoke Sunday's) 2216 Summit St
Evolved Tattoo (my personal favorite around here, quality work and sterile) 1906 N High St
Magnolia Thunder***** (good for jazz, metal, and especially hip hop CD's/LP's) 1155 N High St
Used Kids Records (pretty decent, every now and then some good finds) 1980 N High St
There's a lot of places that I'm forgetting right now, but if anyone around is here wants to go riding or whatever sometime just shoot me a message.

The Blue Nile is an Ethiopian restaurant on High that has great food, and Aladdin's, which is further up on High and in Gahanna, has a diverse selection of mediterranean dishes for good prices. Aladdin's has a lot of stuff for Vegetarians too.
