|
Size?
|
I roll on a cheap ass Duro "Speedy Arrow" in back. it's a pos. The Bontrager Select Kevlar up front is better. both 700*25.
|
700c clincher
|
Yellow Jersey has gum colored tubulars.
|
What kind of gum are we talkin'? Bubblelicious or Spearmint?
|
nashbar had vredestein ricorso's with a gum wall 700x23 for cheap they were 5bucks around the holidays
soma also has a gumwall tire now |
Vredestein Fortezza Track are nice and quite cheap for a folding handmade tyre...£13 over here.
|
vredestein made a track tire that was all gum. i've only been able to find them on one mailorder place and they were charging like $40 to ship a pair so i passed.
DaSy... PM me if you want to buy and ship a pair for me. |
MLPROJECT:
Parker International in the UK do them for £13.95 each, and a flat rate shipping cost of £15 to the States and to be honest, I probably couldn't pack and ship them myself for that money. Here's a link...........Fortezza Track |
Here's a pic of them on my Peugeot Track bike, the dark ring around them is where they have been ridden on my aluminium rollers.
I got them from Parkers and can vouch for them being a reputable company to deal with. http://images.fotopic.net/ylxsr9.jpg |
yeah... thats they place i saw them.... £15 = $30 to ship. way too much unless i order a couple pairs... i may give in as i love the look.
|
Worldclass Cycles also has those Vredestein Fortezza Piste clinchers listed on their site for $38.50ea - you get free tubes and free shipping if you buy two or more.

Christ, is that the £/$ exchange rate nowadays! Oh yeah, just checked and it's 1.97 to the pound.
Also had a look at shipping quotes and I can't find anything under about 50 quid, these companies are mentalists! |
Yep the dollar is worthless against the pound. If you are from the UK, you should visit the states and enjoy yourself. It will cost you nothing.
|
nyc has been overrun with people from the UK on shopping sprees
|
Off topic, but:
That Peugeot is RADTASTIC! A fine pedalcycle, indeed, sir. |
To be honest, the price we pay for just about everything over here, a trip to anywhere seems like playtime.
Veggiemafia: thanks, it's probably gonna get it's first outing on the track tonight, so far it's only been on rollers. |
more durable but more expensive... Panaracer Paselas. if you get the ones with tourguard, they're stronger than gatorskins. i've never flatted on 'em.
(But now i will, just for saying that...) |
Michelin Eriliums are gumwalls, I have one on the front, but they suck for skidding. Performance has them from time to time.
|
I want Bubbalicious colored sidewalls!
|
DaSy; your bike looks fantastic. what kind of saddle is that? i'm a big fan.

Thanks, as Serendipper said above, it's a Selle Italia Storika, and I'm really impressed with it. It's really light, with copper plated titanium rails and no padding, just thick Brooks style saddle leather bronze riveted over cutouts in the saddle base. It looks great, weighs very little and is really comfortable. I think they retail over here for around £75, but I got it brand new in the box for £40 from ebay, so quite happy with that. Si. |
