Missing Chainring Bolt
Ahoy all, so I just checked my miche crank and chainring and one of the bolts is missing, does it need to be replaced before riding, or can I ride with 4/5 of my chainring bolts?
I would replace it.
Who wants tacos?
It's probably a ****ty idea to ride on it, but it won't kill you.
errr at least it didn't kill me. Just watch out for warping your chainring. That could suck. |
Replace it. It MIGHT damage the chainring if you ride with one missing
You can ride with 4 chainring bolts, but don't. Get a new one before riding... You could catastrophically destroy your crank and chainring very easily.
ok sounds like a replacement is in order, but where to find miche chainring bolts

I wouldn't think twice about riding it the 4 miles to my LBS. But not any further, if for no other reason than it's a $1 fix, and it's on my way to work.
I have been looking around the internets and it seems that miche chainring bolts(dont have a back, go straight into the crank) are really ****in hard to find, anybody who had miche cranks encounter this problem?
As far as I know all chainring bolts have the same threading, so just grab any one of the appropriate length and thread it in there. If the bolt comes with the back, just don't use it and save it for later.
Are they a proprietary threading or something? I'd think that you could just take the bolt from some normal chainring bolts (any length) and use it.
I'll stop by the LBS and give it a try

yo freeski
i've got an extra singlespeed bolt for ya if you still need one. |
